2018 Outstanding Apprentices

On Friday, November 30, 2018 the Division of Registered Apprenticeship recognized its 2018 Outstanding Apprentices. The Division also celebrated its 80th Year Anniversary as the State Apprenticeship Agency.

We would like to thanks everyone who attended the Virginia Occupational Safety and Health Conference in Williamsburg last week. Over 333 attendees, 33 vendors and participants from many outside organizations took part in the conference this year. The conference was a great success and we hope to see all of you again next year.

Ricky Rollins was the first accident for Steel Dynamics. He was almost killed on December 30, 1995. The accident was caused by not properly evaluating a hazard. He talks about the accident and how it could have affected his family.

Every day, 115 people in the United States die after overdosing on opioids. Chia-Chia Chang, MPH, MBA is a Public Health Analyst with NIOSH. She will be speaking at the 2018 VOSH Conference on the opioid crisis in the workplace.

National Apprenticeship Week (NAW) November 12-18, 2018 is a national celebration that offers leaders in business, labor, education, and other partners a chance to demonstrate their support for Registered Apprenticeship.
