The Virginia Cooperative Extension has released a guide to help identify dangerous Giant Hogweed. Giant hogweed is easily mistaken for cow parsnip. The danger of giant hogweed stems from its sap, which is present on all parts of the plant. Its sap, in combination with moisture and sunlight, can cause severe skin and eye irritation, painful blistering, permanent scarring and blindness.
